An interesting experiment...some thoughts after reading your posts.

I agree about increasing your total calorie intake. At 500 calories a day, 30 days does not seem to be feasible. In addition, most people loving in countries where starvation hovers at hand spend most of their food money on basic necessities. Rice is beyond their means, let alone apples.

People in these countries also spend a higher % of their income on food - btw 60-80 % (I think) compared to 10 % for Americans. I feel your focus should be as much on reducing excess materialism in all aspects, not just food.

While some people who live on less than $1 a day do eat home-grown food, most don't. The average lifespan in Zimbabwe is 34 and 37 for females and males respectively.

Good luck.

Well, Elizabeth beat me to the offer, but I would want to make sure that your body keeps functioning well! Another angle on the challenge, those who live on less than $1 a day are a likely producing their own food and also not living in the United States with its accompanying cost of living. Just a few thoughts this AM.

That's a bummer you didn't get much sleep. :-(
I'll buy your food items. Apples, turkey, and stir fry are all stuff I'll use.
